Some impressions and thoughts from a day of running around New York before I live-tweet the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards this evening.
Lesson for me: stop trying to do too much and you’ll have a better time as a traveler!
I’m going to have you click this URL link for my New York audio post, because (just like the last time I tried this) every time I try to embed the player, it plays someone else’s random audio post, and I never have time to get ahold of anyone at Utterli to say….FIX THAT!
Best wishes from NYC….

Hi Paul,
Thanks very much for visiting (hey, readers, y’all do read Paul’s great Jaunted blog, right? Go click his name!)
I did not know those percentages, but that must be it - because of the severe restrictions on indoor smoking in NYC, I guess everyone does puff away while they’re outside, so it makes it seem as though there are a lot more users there.
I especially enjoyed this because we will be flying into NYC soon to meet our non-profit kids who travel the world with us virtually. Yep, into JFK, grubby or not. lol
I lived in NYC for many years so it will be fun to return. I remember I hated it there at first, but it grows on you and I soon loved it.
Still, I will have to watch it and not try to do too much in our 3 or 4 days there.
Are you still there? Your pic on twitpic was great! You are such a geeky gal!
BTW, I just stumbled your post on Belgium as an educational field trip for your daughter. You know the travel/education aspect is my passion. Great one!
Hi soultravelers3,
Thanks for your kind comment - nope, I’m back in Texas but awash with NYC blog post ideas for the next few weeks. Glad you liked the twitpic and Belgium items!
Family News
Hate to be a stickler, but I have to point out that only 17.5% of New Yorkers are smokers compared to 20.8% of the US population. But since you can only legally smoke outdoors in NYC, it sometimes looks like everyone’s lighting up.
Of course, this is of little comfort when the person walking in front of you blows a big cloud in your face.
