Sheila – They’ll deep fry anything there. Twinkies, cheese, candy bars…you name it! And, by the way, no visit to the Iowa State Fair is complete without seeing the Butter Cow!

Marsha – I was just there this week with the family taking in the outdoor waterpark. It was great fun even though my son was about 1-2″ short from being able to do the water slides. He did enjoy the lazy river – we must have taken a dozen trips on it in one day!

minnemon – If you get up to the ice cream parlor for the cinnamon rolls, let me know how they are. I’ve been anxious to try them!

Drew – You are all over the place! Absolutely the Iowa State Fair is a must see event.

Sheila – They do have deep fried hot dogs; I’ve had one and their delicous! There are also about 20 other food items available on-a-stick. This year they’ve added pineapple covered in funnel cake batter and deep fried, of course!

This is an excellent list. But with your work over the past many years — I’d always take your advice on where to visit in Iowa.

A couple additions to the list…

Just in Central Iowa alone, there’s a wonderful science center (with IMAX theater) with lots of hands on activities and of course, the Iowa State Fair. Fun on a stick!

My aunt and uncle live in Burlington. We were thinking of coming up for a family reunion this summer. Looks like we have a great place to stay if we come up! Thanks for all the great ideas!
