Great Travel Links for 12.10.07

This week’s roundup would have been posted a lot earlier today if I hadn’t been felled by some sort of stomach bug….sorry!

**  Looking for a little guidance? The UK’s Times Online has their 50 best travel websites of 2007, CNN/Travel & Leisure have their own top 25 travel sites list, Mashable comes out with a head-spinning 75+ online travel resources and the Happy Hotelier blog lists 200 travel/hospitality blogs (Family Travel comes in at #32 — thanks!)

**  Arthur Frommer’s blog has good info about a new option for European vacation rentals and a vigorous argument against the very high cost of US passports, especially for families.

**  Great places to hike and bike are found on former railroad corridors; see the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Web site.

**  The UK’s Guardian has all sorts of ideas combining a vacation and learning another language in Italy, Brazil, France, Austria and Mexico.

**  Delicious Baby has helpful ideas for saving money on your holiday travels.

**  TravelPost has some handy U.S. phone numbers you might need while traveling abroad.

**  Budget Travel has some California love for us this week with 25 reasons we love San Diego and five hotel recommendations in San Francisco.

**  Where to go in 2008….the New York Times says Africa, Vietnam, Morocco and Croatia.  If high-priced passports have you stumped, consider America’s 10 coolest small towns (like Tuscumbia, Alabama.)

**  Finally, it isn’t travel-related, but I do want to thank Liz Strauss for publishing my guest post on her Successful Blog, about how freelancers will know when they’re ready to move to the next level.  It’s always fun to work with Liz!
